Opportunity to join a great local print company
We are seeking an experienced and creative all-rounder to join our design and print company based in Bedford. You’ll get hands on with customer service, creating quotes, processing jobs, and printing and manufacturing everything from business cards to banners and beyond.
Job will include:
- Using our Management Information System (MIS) daily as our main database for all customer ordering, quoting, proofing and information collection.
- To respond to all customer queries in a timely manner, within the same working day where possible.
- Helping and advising customers and taking briefs in person and on the phone.
- Managing customers including quoting/estimating, progressing to a job, sending proofs, raising purchase orders and managing outwork orders, invoicing completed jobs, taking payments on collection and packing and despatching goods.
- Stock management with stock ordering in a timely manner.
- Running Xerox digital production presses, Fiery Command WorkStation, HP and Canon large format machines and all associated finishing equipment
- Finishing print jobs (i.e. trimming, binding, packing, die-cutting etc)
- Handling and assembling large-format materials and media
- Hand-finishing of small products
- Some design and art working to create customer documents for print
- Cleaning and maintaining machinery
The right candidate will:
- Need good practical skills, great communication and work well under pressure. Aspects of this job are physically demanding with heavy lifting required for paper and media stock.
- Be able to learn on-the-job and take on information quickly.
- Be able to multi-task and react to tight deadlines.
- Have good attention to detail in order to accurately proof print jobs, spot mistakes or colour problems in print jobs.
- Be personable and confident with a good telephone manner and be able to deal with clients on the phone or in person, therefore, candidates need to have an appreciation of and focus on customer service to help increase sales within the business.
- Be comfortable with serving and taking payment from customers including credit card payments.
- Be competent and confident to work alone to cover holiday periods.
- Need to be familiar with PC and Microsoft applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel and have knowledge and experience of art working/design using Adobe Creative Suite Software.
- The successful candidate should also have a minimum of Grade C in English and Maths or equivalent.
In addition, they will be enthusiastic with a positive can-do attitude, technical, hardworking and reliable – and most importantly – have a good sense of humour and like working with a (bossy) dog.
Salary negotiable for the right candidate and training can be provided.
